Richardson Awarded Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship

海角淫母乱伦 alumna Hannah Richardson has been awarded a Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Fellowship worth $8,500. The Honor Society is the nation鈥檚 oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, and Richardson is one of just 48 recipients in 2025.
鈥�I am so incredibly thankful to Phi Kappa Phi for their support, and especially to the professors who made this possible through their mentorship, recommendations and advice,鈥� Richardson said. 鈥淚 genuinely wouldn't be the person I am today without the guidance of my professors at South.鈥�
Richardson received her bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from South Alabama in May and will pursue a master's degree in mechanical engineering at Vanderbilt University this fall.
鈥淓ver since I was a kid, I have always had an interest in figuring out how things worked. My dad, an engineer himself, always encouraged these questions, and it became very clear that engineering was the field for me,鈥� she said.
During her time at South, Richardson was involved in outreach efforts to get kids exposed to engineering.
鈥�Many kids have never heard of engineers or don't really understand what it means to be an engineer, so seeing them get excited over the fun experiments we show them is always so rewarding,鈥� she said. 鈥淚t's especially important to me that young girls see that engineering is a field they can pursue with curiosity and confidence.鈥�
The selection process for a fellowship is based on the applicant's evidence of graduate potential, undergraduate academic achievement, service and leadership experience, letters of recommendation, personal statement of educational perspective and career goals, and acceptance in an approved graduate or professional program.
Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi says its mission is to "cultivate a community that celebrates and advances the love of learning."
